And I was consistent. It meant a lot less arguments in my house when my kids were growing up. What? They actually learned how to get along, that not everything had to be a fight (Teen years? Well, that's something else altogether. No one's figured it out, yet, I don't think.). And guess what? My kids still love me. In fact, my son who just had a baby this year says he's parenting just like me. Even though my son's proud of himself for that, I must admit, I kinda feel sorry for the kid! Just kidding, sort of...
